I saw Emma initially for a rotator cuff injury, from which she expertly helped me fully recover. But running is a major part of my life, so when an ankle injury sidelined me, I went back to see Emma. She was thorough, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Most importantly she got me back to full strength and gave me the tools to maintain and build on that strength after our PT sessions ended. When my ankle acts up now, I go back to all the things she taught me (she is an excellent teacher) and I credit her with my ability to keep myself healthy and strong. She really understands athletes and is passionate about helping us unlock our potential. She helped me get back my life as a runner. I can’t overstate how much I appreciate what she did for me.

Working with Emma was monumental for me from both a physical and mental perspective. After my ACL reconstruction, Emma’s plan and guidance enabled me to achieve a level of physical health that I hadn’t even reached prior to my injury. When I began physical therapy, I was unable to walk, let alone jump and run. During our time together, I overcame all of my fears and previous hurdles, and have since run a half-marathon (something I had never done before). Time permitting, she would help me work on physical goals separate from my ACL, such as doing a pull-up or sprinting faster. I remember the first time I jumped after surgery – it was off of a one inch platform and I was terrified! By the end of our time together, I could jump off of 18-inch boxes on a single leg. Our work together reframed my relationship with movement and exercise, helping me to develop a passion for pushing myself in a sustainable manner. To this day I owe so much of my progress and lack of re-injury to physical therapy with her – years later, I carry much of what I learned with me. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a physical therapist strongly consider Emma, as she is unmatched.

Working with Dr. Emma means you work with a PT who listens intently and designs a program with you specifically in mind. I’ve been able to work with Emma to find a workout routine that’s designed to meet my goals for improved movement and strength building, while also working within my comfort zones of movement and taking into consideration any modifications I may need. Emma provides great communication and feedback to help improve my practices and is always able to answer questions in ways I can understand. She is knowledgeable, caring and fun to work with!
